La Naturaleza Oculta (“Hidden nature”) is an autobiographical project about family and inheritance. It is not guided by reason – the focus is on the essential and metaphysical, as some sort of cathartic process that will eventually lead us to accept our nature.
In her work, Gema B. Ramos explores family processes that, generation after generation, reveal themselves as tangible realities, as a legacy bequeathed to us.
With portraits that emerge from the past but are nevertheless familiar, and drawing a parallel with the world of nature, with landscapes described almost as if they were imaginary places in the subconscious, we are invaded by a hidden darkness that makes us discover a process of breaking – sometimes ephemeral, some other times completely devastating.
